Back in those days, differences between street style and runways were minimal, and the main trend was a mix of every single style together.
A personalized look was the hit of the moment, while people was trying to reject the fashion impositions of the moment. And it's not like it's gone, you can see all these inspiration reflected in today's fashion, like if we were stuck in the 90's for good!
Flat shoes and platforms were on top. Mini skirt came back, and the long dresses were right behind. Actually, I'd say that long skirts and dresses were even more fashionable than mini skirts. Accessories were the main star in every outfit, and jeans and leather became classics must haves.
Popular hairstyle was extra volumized and with bangs. And makeup tend to the grunge style that was also so trendy back in the 90's.
Try and tell me that you don't see any of this in every corner of your city.. Like crop tops and high waisted bottoms, platforms on flat shoes, round shades, grunge, oversized trend... It's everywhere!
The celebs that I find more representative of the decade were Kate Moss (of course!), Drew Barrymore and Liv Tyler, but the fashion was starting to get imposed by tv shows like Friends or Saved by the bell.
It passed from being a trend to a major style, and I hope we won't ever leave it behind!
