SS18 Trends analysis

It's finally time to confirm the trends forecast for this SS18! In this report you'll find the confirmed predictions of the past catwalks, we'll summarized the primary trends in four main themes. Later on, we'll analyse all them by country, designer and trend. Don't miss it!

Inspiration can come from anywhere, but it's a fact that designers can only look back to the past to get inspired: movies, music, places, art, architecture.. They need to contact the past in order to create the future. Individuality and vintage times will be key in the collections we'll going to see.Welcome to the days of the future past.

As every Spring/Summer season, floral print will dominate the fashion scene. The floral opulence will evolve the Pre-summer, where the femininity and the ladylike are the leitmotifs. The key of femininity expressed in dresses are created in fluid silks and pretty florals over delicate materials. Transparency emerges  inspired on a need for elegance and sophistication. 

Key colors would be pale pink, white, pastels and green. Floral prints in all shapes and sizes, in variety of colors and even with a retro inspiration and a psichotropical touch (Dries Van Noten). The dominant materials will be silk, chiffons, crepe and soft gabardine. And last but not least, the key items: elongated coats, layered dresses, ruffled blouses, high-waisted trousers, pencil skirts and full skirts.

Como cada Primvera/Verano, el print floral dominará el escenario de la moda. La opulencia floral evolucionará la Pre-Primavera, donde la feminidad y el estilo "ladylike" serán el leitmotif. La clave será la feminidad, expresada en vestidos creados en fluidas sedas y florales sobre materiales delicados. La transparencia emergerá inspirada por una necesidad de elegancia y sofisticación.

Los colores clave serán el rosa palo, blancos, pasteles y verde jardín. El estampado floral se presentará en todo tipo de tamaños y formas, incluso con un toque psicotropical (Dries Van Noten). Los materiales dominantes serán la seda, chiffones de seda, crepé de china y gabardinas suaves. Y por último pero no menos importante, las prendas clave serán los abrigos alargados, los vestidos superpuestos, blusas con volantes, pantalones de tiro alto, faldas tubo y faldas amplias.

Luminous pastels of electric lilac, pink and united blue make for striking clashes when used with black and white. 

Challenging the ubiquitous takeover of millennial pink, a new pastel is emerging as the next must-have color. Whether done in ethereal dresses or flashy metallics, lavender proved to be the It color for spring. Check the total look combination of Max Mara adapted for a work office theme, the evening dresses of Missoni and Erdem or the flowered knitwear of Alexander McQueen.

Los pasteles luminosos, como lila eléctrico, rosa y azul gema, resultan sorprendentemente contrastantes cuando se usan con blanco y con negro.

Un nuevo tono pastel emerge para mostrarnos el nuevo It color de la temporada SS18. Ya sea en vestidos etéreos o en metálicos brillantes, el lavanda se posiciona alto. Versionado en un combinado total look con ambiente de oficina de Max Mara, vestidos de tarde como Missoni o Erdem y el punto floral de Alexander McQueen.

From jackets to jeans, skirts, and suiting separates, dark wash denim reigned supreme in every form. It's the basic that never goes old, could come in a form of a seasonal must have or in a fashion icon.

Denim is a really long section that we will extend in the next posts, where we'll see how the catwalks have treated the different categories, colors and shapes on denim for next season. As for now, let's highlight the dark denim that steps on with power and presence on SS18.

Desde chaquetas a vaqueros, faldas e incluso trajes separados, el lavado denim en oscuro ha reinado en cada formato. Es el básico que nunca envejece, puede incluso llegar en forma de tendencia de temporada o incluso como icono de moda.

El denim es una sección demasiado larga como para resumir su paso por las pasarelas en un solo post. Veremos como han tratado a cada categoria de producto, cada color y en qué formas en próximos posts. Por ahora, destacamos en el denim oscuro que entra con fuerza y presencia en la PV18.

Within all prints presented on the SS18 catwalks, we bet on a few some! 

Art-infused prints (like comic inspired, the great Andy Warhol or just somegraphic designs) came to life on this SS18 in form of jackets and dresses or even pants. The forecast stated that graphics with messages or statements would come within art and cultural references. The "no rules" trend, inspired on a youth energy. 

Also, emerging as the highlight print of the season, there's plaid for any kind of likes whether you preffer the classic tartan of Burberry or tiny gingham-inspired checks of Loewe.

And last but not least, this eclectic spirit continued via traditional decorative patterns inspired by diverse cultural riches forms the boho print, whose major references are Etro and Les Copains.

Balenciaga reigns on a mix of all of them (art, plaid and boho) in the same outfit.

De entre todos los estampados presentados en las pasarelas SS18, apostamos por algunos cuantos!

Los prints influidos por el arte (como comics, el gran Andy Warhol o simples diseños gráficos) reavivan en forma de chaquetas y vestidos o incluso pantalones. El pronóstico afirmó que los gráficos con mensaje llegarían con referencias artísticas y culturales. La tendencia del "no hay reglas", inspirada en una energía juvenil.

También, emergiendo como el destacado de la temporada, hay cuadros para todo tipo de gustos, tanto si prefieres el clásico tartan tipo Burberry o el inspirado en los cuadros gingham de Loewe.

Y por último, este espíritu ecléctico continuó a través de diseños tradicionales que se inspiraban en diversas fuentes culturales formando el print boho, de los cuales sus mayores referencias son Etro y Les Copains.
